It depends on the toy. Tenga eggs are designed for one-time use, for example. Fleshlights can be used more than once, they just need to be cleaned properly, like other toys do.

Uh, I have used my two sided mascara that I bought explicitly for masturbation, as I do not have access to buying a dildo. I do feel extreme pleasure using it and to sum it up, it actually feels very nice.
