Grew up with an abusive father, so the relationship between us is shattered.
Does this mean that I'll go for guys who treat me like shit?
Just the thought of that SCARES me.

Hi there, pink.$kies.
I don't think you're doomed to have unhealthy relationships, or to wind up with partners who treat you poorly. One thing that will help, I think, is to try and make sure that you're only entering into relationships that feel healthy and supportive. We have a lot of articles that talk about identifying abusive or unhealthy relationships and how to create and maintain healthy ones; I think taking a look at these will be a good place to start, when you're thinking about how you want to approach relationships in the future:
