Quick Question

Hi there!

I have a few questions. First, I got the Mirena IUD put in about a month ago, right after my period ended. I had the Paragard removed at that time as well.

Last week, I got a yeast infection. My doctor called in a suppository and I've been using that the past 4 nights. My period is 2 days late, but I am experiencing cramps as well as breast tenderness but no bleeding. Are yeast infections known to delay your period? I have not had sex recently so that is not a concern here.

Just wondering if this is normal. Thanks!

Welcome to Scarleteen!

Yes, the stress that illness puts on the body can delay a period. But also, the Mirena can make periods shorter and lighter, and some people may stop having periods altogether while using Mirena.

Is it normal to skip the first one though? It's just puzzling that I've been cramping for over a week but nothing has happened.

Again, both illness and the Mirena itself can impact periods. Buf if you are concerned, your doctor is the person to call.
