1 Year Sober!!!

Hi!! You might remember from this thread a while back (Parental Abuse and AA) but I’m in AA and have been trying to get sober. As of last weekend, I finally have 1 year sober!!! :D

I didn't know if I could do it, because some days were so so hard. But I’m so grateful for the support I got in that last thread, since it helped me not give up on finding a sponsor who was right for me (and me and that first sponsor are chill now).

I also recently started my city’s first meeting for people of color so that we can have a space to support each other in our recovery! :)

Just chiming in with even more congrats!
And you to whom adversity has dealt the final blow/with smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go/turn to and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain/and like the Mary Ellen Carter rise again.

I saw this on my day off and it was VERY hard not to respond! I'm in happytears for you, MusicNerd. So proud, and so glad that you feel so supported and as strong as you are.
