Brown Discharge instead of Period
I last had my period around the last week of July. Around August 15, I had light spotting, both red and dark brown. I have never had mid-cycle bleeding before so I was kind of worried, but I chalked it up to ovulation bleeding. I was suppsoed to get my period again on August 31, except around August 28, I started having brown discharge. I thought maybe my period would come after a few days of brown discharge/spotting but it never did. The brown discharge stopped by August 31, and now I have large amounts of clear discharge. I am still a virgin and have never done more than dry humping or humping with a condom so I do not believe that I could be pregnant because I know theoretically it is impossible . I was wondering if this type of things is common or could be chalked up to some kind of hormonal imbalance? Whenever I search online, implantation bleeding comes up as the cause, but again I do not believe I am pregnant so what is going on? And is it just a coincidence that the month I start doing stuff with my boyfriend is when this happens?

Re: Brown Discharge instead of Period
This sounds like an instance where periods just do unexpected things sometimes! It could be that the few days of brown discharge/spotting was your period and it was just super light this time, or that you'll get a period that looks more like you expect it to in the near future, but even if your cycle is usually pretty regular we can't predict exactly what it'll do next! Some people have cycles that are more irregular than others, so I can't say how common this is for you in particular, but it's absolutely common for people to have periods that are unusual in some way from time to time.
What are you using to chart your period and anticipate your next one? Is your cycle generally regular? I know that some apps use language that can make people think periods are supposed to be a lo more regular than they often are, so it may be helpful to take any rigid-sounding language with a grain of salt. Keep in mind that even folks with cycles that are usually extremely regular and predictable have periods that are early, late, or heavier/lighter than normal from time to time.
