Should I take Plan B?

Unread post by alipaige97 »

Hi! I've been on norethindrone acetate/ethinyl estradiol pills for at least a year now. I take them on time all of the time, and do the 7 day break for a withdrawal bleed. However, my boyfriend ejaculated in me on the second day of my next pack (today, the 25th). I took my pill at my usual time, 6 pm. I started this new pack on schedule, Sunday the 24th. My withdrawal bleed started Tuesday the 19th and lasted up until Saturday the 23rd. Am I protected? Do I need to get Plan B? I feel like I should know this but I am just wanting to be sure. Thanks!

Hi alipaige,

Since it sounds like you take your pill consistently, haven't missed any pills lately, and you've been on it for close to a year, then you can assume that you have full protection from the pill. So, from what you're describing, it doesn't sound like Plan B is necessary.

Too, if part of what's making you nervous is that your boyfriend ejaculated in you, it might be time for the two of you to discuss ways to make sure that doesn't happen in the future (such as using condoms).
And you to whom adversity has dealt the final blow/with smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go/turn to and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain/and like the Mary Ellen Carter rise again.

Hey Sam!

Thank you so much for the info! We usually do condoms or I make him pull out. I have only let this happen now twice (I was trying to see if I have a sperm allergy, someone in my family does, it doesn't appear that I have one) so we will talk about sticking to an extra method to be safe. Thank you again!
