Re: Problems with the pill and 'boyfriend'

I am not aware of any one size fits all diaphragms; to the best of my knowledge all diaphragms (and cervical caps, a smaller but similar method) need to be fitted by a healthcare provider to make sure they are the right size and as effective as possible. Whether an IUD would be a good option for you...

Re: Pill making me chubby??

When people do gain a bit of weight with the pill, it tends to be minimal (a few pounds), and often side effects lessen or go away after the first three months or so. So, if you can, give it a bit more time and see what happens - if you're still bothered by it in a couple of months then it's worth t...

Re: Vagina sizes

I do not believe that anyone here has said that there is absolutely no variation in vaginal size from person to person. There is: otherwise menstrual cups and diaphragms would come in only one size. But the variation really is minimal (we're talking millimeters), and it's affected by so many factors...

Re: Kegel exercises and muscle tone

The reason that kegel exercises generally won't have any noticeable effect in younger people is that younger people pretty much have all the pelvic floor muscle tone they're going to get. Unless they have given birth vaginally, or something else has happened to affect the tone of those muscles, ther...

Re: I took my birth control pill late

You're just fine. With a combined pill like Sprintec (one that has two kinds of hormones) you have about three hours either side of your usual time to take your pill and still have it be "on time." A pill isn't considered late unless it's taken more than 12 hours past your usual time, so y...

Re: Bcp question

If you look up the name of your pill online, you should be able to find a copy of the patient information that comes with your pills, and the instructions about what to do if you miss one or more pills will be in there. It's generally recommended that you use a backup method for at least seven days,...

Re: Questions on contraceptive pill

The pill can cause all of those changes, yep. Although it may not be that you're seeing less of the lining, but that it's just more liquid this time. Just like when you are not on the pill, the length and amount of flow of your withdrawal bleeds on the pill can vary, and many people find that their ...

A couple things: are your partner's fingernails well trimmed, with no sharp edges or hangnails? Are you using plenty of lube, and adding more as needed?

Re: STI or UTI/Yeast Infection?

Yeast infections can cause itching or burning, and symptoms can vary from person to person. There's no reason not to trust what the doctors have told you: this is their job, they know what they're looking for and they've examined you in person. You can trust them, seriously.

Yep, Plan B can throw your cycles off for a while after taking it. If you'd like some extra reassurance though, taking a pregnancy test can help with that.

You may not be able to see your gyn until December 3rd, but do you have a general doctor you can see before then? They may not be able to do a full STI screening for you, but they can certainly check for a UTI and look into your other symptoms as well. (If you are experiencing what you think might b...

Interesting topic. I hadn't ever thought about it much, but reflecting on it now, I think the information about how I came to be has had a pretty significant impact on me. Like moonlight, I was planned. However, I arrived after several miscarriages and a bunch of medical interventions (I wasn't an I...

I'm sorry your step-mom won't help you out by buying you a pregnancy test. (I personally disagree that helping you get a test is supporting you in making a "bad choice" and if you feel like you can it might be worth talking to her about it, but I totally understand if that isn't a conversa...

The only way holes in clothing are a concern is if the hole is so big that the genitals aren't covered at all (at which point, it would be pretty noticeable) and the other person is not wearing clothing. Small holes or tears are not a problem.

Re: How to not be shy in front of the girl I like?

If shy is authentically you, sometimes or all of the time, then that's okay. If you find that you're most shy around people you feel intimidated by or feel like you need to impress, though, and this girl is one of them, it might just mean that you need a bit more time to be comfortable around her. S...

Hey tadpole, welcome back. I've removed you from the newly registered users group, so you should now be able to post in all areas of the boards. We didn't transfer anything over from the old boards, but the old boards are archived, so we still have access to your posting history there too.

Re: Difference between contact

I'm not sure how else to explain this. Sperm are delicate, there aren't many of them in pre-ejaculate (if there are any) and even a few seconds on a fingertip being transferred from penis to vagina is enough to disrupt their environment so that they cannot co-create a pregnancy. Even with direct gen...

Re: Difference between contact

That is not a way that pregnancy happens, no. If this is something that worries you, though, you might want to consider taking a break from any kind of sexual activity that freaks you out, until you feel more comfortable with what is and isn't a risk. (It's also really easy to just wash your hands, ...

Re: Difference between contact

It's not so much about sperm being alive, as being viable: in an environment that lets them move. They need fluid to move, and pre-ejaculate isn't a huge amount of fluid, so any disruption to that is going to ruin the chances of any sperm that might be there getting to where they need to be. Direct ...
