Can you contract an STI from a person who has been treated for one before and hasn't been with anyone else?

Hi t-dawg!

The only way to know if someone has no STIs is if they are tested, and they share the results with you. Before any kind of sexual activity or relationship, it's important that each partner has been tested for STIs and discloses STI-related information in order to discuss any risks and how they will be managed or avoided. Condoms/other barriers do protect against many STIs, but not all of them, and not 100% of the time. Basically, if one partner has an STI and sexual activities or intercourse occur, there is always some level of risk.

Do you know where/how to access sexual health services to make sure you are protected and informed? For example, a primary health care provider or a sexual health clinic like Planned Parenthood?

So, is it possible for a male partner ( who has a STI ) to have unprotected sex with a female and the female not get the STI?

Yep. Just like someone with a flu can get some people sick, but not others.
