Plan b while on depo?

Unread post by Lanakins »

I got my depo shot for the first time on October 6th (I was just finishing my period, 4th day into it)
They told me to use protection for one week and then I'd be fine, they gave me a plan b just in case.
Yesterday my boyfriend and I were together and we did not have sex, but our genitals may have touched. Yesterday would be 11 days on the depo shot.
Am I protected? Or should I take the plan b?
Is there any danger in taking a plan b while on depo?
We were both tested for std's and are clean also.
I'm just confused cause I've read online to wait 7 days or 14 days. So I'm confused on which is the right answer.
Thank you !

You can trust the instructions given to you by your healthcare provider.

For future reference, no, it's not dangerous to take Plan B while on depo. You wouldn't need to, though, unless you hadn't got your repeated shot when you were supposed to.
The kyriarchy usually assumes that I am the kind of woman of whom it would approve. I have a peculiar kind of fun showing it just how much I am not.

Thank you Redskies!
This is my first time trying the depo and I just wanted to be sure that after seven days, I'm protected.
I was just confused because I know that with the implant, I had to wait 14 days instead of seven.

Is depo the same as the implant but just in a larger dose? (That's my guess since with the implant it's 3 years, and the shot is 3 months)

Not necessarily, but they are both hormonal methods that use progesterone!

If you like more information on depo or the implant you can check out Birth Control Bingo: http://www.scarleteen.com/article/sexua ... trol_bingo

Thank you! The information was really helpful.
One more question..
A lot of people around me are getting sick and it reminded me to get my flu shot as soon as possible!
Will the flu shot interfere with the depo?
