Should I be worried?

Unread post by pens29 »

Hello,

I am on ortho tri cyclen and I am very good at taking my birth control at 9:30 at night every night. However, on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th, I woke up at 1:30am - 2:30 am with diarrhea (due to nerves/stress). Would this effect the effectiveness of my birth control? I was sexually active today (12/29). We used a condom and he pulled out. He didn't grab the base of the condom when he pulled out but it stayed on and did not slip off. Should I be worried about pregnancy? Thank you!

Hello there, pens29. Welcome to Scarleteen. :)

Diarrhea only affects the efficacy of your pill if it happens before 2 hours after taking it. After 2 hours your body already absorbed what it needed to absorbed, so no need to worry.

Also, you are using condoms and withdrawal, so even if the absorption of your pill was compromised you still had the back up of those two extra methods. :)
