Two truths and a lie

Unread post by Heather »

Just a little icebreaker for those in the newbie group (and anyone else)!

Here's how this works: think of two facts (truths) about yourself, and one lie (something that isn't true about you or your life). Post them both here.

When you reply, take a guess about which of the previous posters things were the two truths, and which was a lie, then post your own two truths and a lie...and so on, and so on.

I'll start!
• I grew up in Chicago
• In high school, I once rode the subway wearing a lobster suit for a day-long gig promoting a seafood chain
• I am secretly a giant fan of the band Guns N'Roses

That lobster suit is so ridiculous it has to be true, right? I'm picking the Guns N Roses as the lie.

As for me...
  • I play on a co-ed roller derby team
  • In college I had to interview a fake psychic for an internship
  • A customer once brought a kinkajou into the store I used to manage

I'm gonna...call bluff on.... the roller derby one.

Alright, my two truths and a lie:
- I loved "The Catcher in the Rye"
- I'm a real cat person
- One of my funniest stories I have personally experienced involves a partner ejaculating into a Santa hat

Fun!

I disliked Catcher in the Rye, so I refuse to believe someone liked it :D

My two truths and a lie:
- I attended a Catholic all-girls private school as a teen
- I've had a lot of pets, including a newt named Tommy
- As an English major, I really appreciate the classics of literature

haha! Funny you should say that, because a lot of my smartest, most well-read friends didn't like Catcher because in their opinion it was pretty much "a white boy complaining about things all the time". Sadly I'm the black sheep and really really love that book! I'm not a cat person. I'm a dog one :-). But since you don't like Catcher.. I might call bluff on the enjoying classics of literature..

Bigbywolf, you caught my roller derby lie! The truth is that I'm a derby superfan, but haven't put skates on myself yet.

Welp, I have no truths to call out, so I'll just jump in with mine:

I once almost kicked a well-known actor in the face
One of my cats is named after Rupert Graves
I have sung in the O2 arena

Ruth - I'm going to go with the cat one! Just because it's the most realistic and therefore has to be a lie, haha.

Here's mine:
-I'm afraid of praying mantises
-I once stood in line for 24 hours for concert tickets
-I don't know how to blow a bubble with bubble gum

Is the lie praying mantises? I think they're hilarious-looking.\

Mine:
- I have never eaten meat or fish in my life
- I met Neil Patrick Harris and he kissed my hand
- I hate the taste of black licorice

I really, really want to believe that you got to meet Neil Patrick Harris, so....I'm going to call lie on hating the taste of black licorice.

Here are mine:
-I didn't start talking until I was almost 3, but when I did start I spoke in complete sentences.
-I can't whistle.
-I've never read any of the Harry Potter books.

The third one HAS to be a lie, because I really hope you've read those books!

Mine are:
- I was scared of water till the age of 14.
- I am really good at dancing.
- I do not like Game of Thrones.

Unfortunately not, I am actually quite terrified of praying mantises. Haha! I am not afraid of any other bugs though (except maybe roaches, not really afraid though just grossed out.)

Annie26, I'm going to say it's the dancing, because I fail at it, though my sisters are really good!

Mine are:

1) I have an evil cat I sometimes call Fuzzbutt.
2) I collect toy dinosaurs.
3) I like instrumental rock music.

This is a truth!

So, the lie was about standing in line for concert tickets. Although, I will say that one time I did stand in line for about 20 hours for a Harry Potter book. :D

Sorry Kaizen, I DO actually like instrumental rock music! My favorite band in that genre is If These Trees Could Talk.

Now, I don't actually have an evil cat, nor any cat, for that matter! However, I do have a small, badly-behaved dog, and one of her nicknames is, in fact, Fuzzbutt.

Ah, a half-truth! One of the tricks to this game. I just really wanted Fuzzbutt to be true, so glad to hear it is.

The cat named after Rupert Graves is a lie - he's named after Rupert Grint! I guess if y'all knew I had a cat called Rupert that would have been a more convicing lie...
