Too soon?

Hello! I'm sorry, I know I use this website for such random stuff but you guys are all so helpful and I don't know who else to talk to. Okay so last year I was VERY briefly in kind of a thing w this guy, like we weren't dating or anything but we were texting and he was flirting and I didn't like full on stop him for a bit. But this was super brief like a week maybe. Then I vaguely told him I wasn't interested and we stopped talking. Anyways, I'm not interested in him at all, but he was writing a book last year and he said he was almost done w it and I'm honestly so curious to know how that ended.I really want to know if he wrote the book and tbh I kind of want to read it. Would it be stupid to text him? I don't want to accidentally start anything up w him... Thank you!

Hi Ballerina,

It sounds like the relationship was casual enough and brief enough that it would be okay to ask him how the book went. You can keep your end of the conversation focused on that, and if he starts flirting or similar you can say you're only interested in catching up with him. He may also not be interested in talking to you much (which is a boundary he gets to have), so if he's brief or curt with you I'd try not to take it too personally.
And you to whom adversity has dealt the final blow/with smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go/turn to and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain/and like the Mary Ellen Carter rise again.

You can always message him and set parameters on the relationship at the first message :)

This is something I FAMOUSLY do!
