Late with 3rd pill in new pack. Worried

Unread post by bryann9182 »

Had sex with my s/o on Sunday, which was the first day of her new pack of pills. I pulled out and She took her pill that night on time. She took her pill on Monday night on time as well.

On Tuesday she forgot to take her pill at night, and took it Wednesday afternoon roughly 19 hours after she should have taken it. She then took her Wednesday night pill on time so she ended up taking two pills that day.

She should have used EC? She is on Lutera combination pills and has been for about 2 years. She never misses pills so this is a bit of a worrisome time. Thanks

Here's the thing: it's really on you to do what YOU can to prevent pregnancy, with your own body, in these situations. If you are using a method you can use (you say withdrawal), and still are not comfortable engaging in sex without a ton of worry about your partner's method she is using, that's a signal that perhaps you just don't feel up for this kind of sex, with the kinds of risks it carries.

This is the second post like this now with concern over a late pill, so if I were you, I'd be paying attention to my feelings with this, and interpreting them as a signal that perhaps I just I am not comfortable for the time being having sex that has even the slightest risk of pregnancy.

Secondarily, know that condoms are more effective than withdrawal, and a lot harder to mess up. You may find using a more goofproof, more effective method you can use is a help.

If you're interested in finding out, just because, how the pill works, including the difference in effectiveness between perfect use and typical use (which includes things like the occasional late pill), you can take a peek at this: http://www.scarleteen.com/birth_control ... ation_pill

But I'd urge you to do what you can to step back from, for lack of a better word, trying to police your partner's BCP use. It's on her to manage this, unless she is asking for your help. It's on you to manage YOUR method. :)

I understand what you're saying and it's likely extra precautions will be used in the future. I don't usually ever worry about these things unless the occasional misuse (by either me or my s/o) happens

Okay, but we've had you here with two, thus my suggestions. :)

Right. It's just not always that easy to get replies or suggestions to questions like this on other sites, and there are many variables that can change an answer. I've searched around and notice many threads on other sites go unanswered

Well, we certainly can't speak for those sites! But I'm glad you've been able to get the answers you've needed here, where we work very hard to serve users well and quickly. :)
