Withdrawal bleeding question

Unread post by Angeldelight123 »

Hi there,

I have been trying to find a decent answer to this for ages but I cannot seem to get an answer, so can someone please help and advise me?

Basically I'm in the pill and I use condoms.

Does the withdrawal bleed you have on the pill during the 7 day break mean you are not pregnant? It's because they say that a withdrawal bleed is not the same as a period, but does it still imply that you are not pregnant since the lining is still shedding?
I just finished my withdrawal bleed last week and I'm back to taking my pills, I have also taken two pregnancy tests properly and both have been negative. Yet, I have read online that you can still get a period and be pregnant without knowing.
I cannot find a reasonable answer anywhere!

Thank you for any help!

The fact that it is a withdrawal bleed and not a period is due to the fact that the birth control is working, hence you can't get pregnant.

You also can't have a period while pregnant because the uterine lining which leaves the body as a period, is the place a pregnancy would begin, without it a pregnancy can not occur or progress.

But you wouldn't have one anyway because of your birth control, hence the withdrawal bleeds instead.

So in summary:

On Birth Control ⇒ Thin Uterine Lining (among other things) ⇒ No pregnancy
Withdrawal bleed ⇒ On Birth Control ⇒ No pregnancy
Withdrawal bleed ⇒ Thin Uterine Lining leaves body ⇒ No pregnancy
Period ⇒ Thick uterine lining leaves body ⇒ No pregnancy

and finally...

Condom unbroken ⇒ No pregnancy
2 pregnancy tests (negative) ⇒ No pregnancy

So there is no indication of a pregnancy here at all. From what I'm seeing here you aren't undergoing any risks, and you are in posession of some pretty accurate information... For that reason as per our policy we can't discuss it further and I'll have to close this thread. I have started a new thread for you however in case you'd like to talk about anxiety.
