Fingered after wiped semen

Hi I've been doing research lately and was just wondering if sperm was on hand then wiped off would there still be viable sperm on hand to cause pregnancy if inserted into a vagina? Or does it need the ejaculate it's with!? I've asked Dr boards and they say minimal chance but make it seem like sperm can remain behind? Any thoughts?
