can have PIV sex but can't insert tampons or medication

I've never been able to use tampons because I cannot insert anything into my vaginal opening - it seems to "clamp" shut whenever I try, and hurts and feels like I'm forcing something in. So I've always used pads instead, no big deal.

Well now I need to insert rx Clindamycin cream vaginally for a BV infection. (The first line of treatment was oral antibiotics which I took as directed, but they did not clear up the infection). It comes with narrow applicators to use. I have the same problem - I can't get anything up there! I've tried using TONS of water based lube on the applicator first, and lying on my back, with no luck.

Background info is that I have been penetrated with fingers, penises and toys of all sizes multiple times with no problems. Basically I have to be VERY sexually aroused for something to go inside me. But sitting here with BV does not make me feel turned on! And yes I've even tried watching porn and rubbing my clit first, but this infection has my area so irritated that I can't get myself in the mood. Sadly I am currently single so cannot have a partner help me out!

At the gyno they use the extra small speculum with KY jelly to examine me, and it always hurts a lot.

I've got to get this cream in me somehow to treat my infection! help! The doctor thinks oral meds won't clear it.

I don't know if you've experienced this problem, but if you are nervous/stressed then it can be uncomfortable/painful to insert things like tampons in your vagina. But either way, I would suggest speaking to your doctor if you're having problem getting it in. They might be able to help you or end up finding another way to get rid of it.

Ouch, I feel you on the "BV does not make me want to put anything NEAR this body part." You mention trying to make yourself aroused, which was definitely worth a try. What would happen if you focused less on arousal and more on general relaxation? Like taking a bath or doing things that generally make you feel less tense. That could get you to the point where you could insert the medication.

Just another user here, but I can relate with you 100%. I had this issue for quite some time and it always confused me.

The biggest thing that helped me was to use my finger to explore while not in the context of sex. I would get relaxed (like Sam W mentioned), and see if I could put a finger it without it being for pleasure. If you can get it in, try to get a sense of how your vagina is shaped on the inside when not aroused.

What I discovered is that my vagina actually curves off to one side and goes up at an angle when I am not aroused, so when I was trying to insert things the same way I would during sex, it hurt a lot because it was all... windy instead of straight, and I was just trying to push things straight in like I do during sexy time. Once I figured this out, I actually found that I could insert my tampons at an angle to get it in, then straighten out gently while I push the applicator it. Zero pain. I feel the tampon wiggle back and forth as it goes up. TOTALLY different shape than when I am aroused.
