New birth control
Hi! I just started a new brand of birth control last night after being on the placebo pills for a week. I was wondering if I would still be protected?

Re: New birth control
Hi summergirlxo,
Since there was no gap (other than your placebo week) it's unlikely that you experienced a decrease in protection. However, if you're concerned you can call a pharmacist or your healthcare provider and ask their opinion. If you want to keep your chances of pregnancy as low as possible, you'll want to backup the pill with a barrier method like a condom.

Re: New birth control
It's unlikely to be necessary. You would still have been protected during your placebo pills, and since there was no other gap in starting the new pack you probably still have a high level of protection. However, it's up to you whether taking plan b feels like the right choice for you.
