Coil query

Unread post by Tigger1 »

Hi,

I was fitted with a mirena coil last year. I’ve got to have an internal ultrasound, Will they be able to do this with the coil in place or will I need to see the doc to have it removed first?
I’m not totally sure how the coil is fitted or where it sits.

Thanks :)

Any time you have any kind of procedure like this they ask you all the pertinent questions to assure you're not having to figure things out like this yourself.

If you mean a transvaginal ultrasound, your IUD isn't in the vagina, but your uterus, so it's a non-issue.

Hi Heather,

Yes I meant. US pelvis trans abdominal and transvaginal ultrasounds.

Sorry I just thought it might need to come out beforehand!

Thanks

Nope. :)

But again, these are always things you can ask your healthcare providers, and trust they will ask you about if they're issues.
