Pill effectiveness over time

Unread post by EmersonD678 »

Hello! I recently started birth control pills (the brand is Mili.) The package says that they are effective 7 days after you start taking them. I was just wondering if the effectiveness goes up over time or if I have maximum protection as soon as 7 days have passed? I want to be as safe as possible and if it would be better to wait more than 7 days I will definitely do so. Thanks in advance :)

It's actually best when you start the pill to wait a whole cycle until you rely on them as a method, in large part because it can often take people time to get in the habit of taking them each day, and because a lot of people start them mid-cycle (when ovulation can already be happening or down the road).

Once you get to about that month, sometimes sooner, it's as effective as it will get, so long as you keep taking it properly. If you miss pills, or develop illness that creates a conflict, then they can be less effective. Make sense?
