Originally posted by Karyn on the old boards here: http://www.scarleteen.com/cgi-bin/forum ... 01575.htmlThis is one of a few threads we've added to help those of you who are often dealing with similar issues -- or aren't, but are members of this one broad group and want to connect, even in places you're not the same -- but perhaps not seeing each other in one place on the boards to know you can connect and talk together. We keep seeing some users who it seems like would SO benefit from talking together, but due to the business of the boards, probably don't realize are here to talk to.
This one is for anyone who is or feels they are experiencing anxiety or depression.
IMPORTANT: What this thread is NOT for is anyone who does not have anxiety and/or depression, but who is curious about people who do and wants to interview them in any way to satisfy their curiosity. This is a peer support thread for people who do have anxiety or depressive conditions. Thanks!
Anxiety and Depression Peer Support
Forum rules
We ask that users looking for general, ongoing emotional support post in this area of the boards, and that you use this space to both ask for, give and receive that support primarily from each other, rather than from our staff and volunteers. As a staff, we simply are often too overextended with all we need to do in running the organization and its services to do that for extended periods of time, and one of our main aims of our community at the boards has always been to facilitate peers to better be there for each other.
Users often report that they have no in-person peers they can talk to or seek support from: we want this to be a space for online peer support and somewhere everyone can get some practice asking for, getting and giving support so that doing it with people in your lives feels more doable.
Please remember that neither staff, volunteers nor your fellow users can provide or replace mental healthcare when that is something you need. Users struggling with issues like anxiety, depression, abuse or physical health issues are strongly encouraged to seek out qualified, in-person help with those issues in addition to peer or staff support.

Ok, I saw this and I'm kind of confused. Are we supposed to/ allowed to post on this thread? Or is this a note to people that the Supporting Each Other boards are for this purpose too?

You can absolutely post in this thread
The kyriarchy usually assumes that I am the kind of woman of whom it would approve. I have a peculiar kind of fun showing it just how much I am not.

Since you've only got one post so far, you'll need to stick to the two Newbieville boards (Ask Us and Got Questions? Get Answers) for now, until you have 5 posts.
