I am so confused about the hymen. I can't feel mine, so maybe it's very small or ive already broken it (even though ive not had sex). what is it? what is the point of it? also after looking online, apparently some women have hymen that cover the whole vaginal opening? why? surely that makes periods impossible? does the blood just pool up on it? and surely it also makes penetration harder? sorry if these sound like dumb questions but the hymen was never even mentioned in sex ed and it confuses me so much

Hi there. No worries, these are totally normal questions to have--most sex ed curriculums do a terrible job at explaining what the 'hymen' is. Here's an article on our site about it, it answers all your questions but let me know if you have any others!
