Hi there,

So, brown-tinted discharge can happen now and then without anything being wrong. Are you experiencing any pain or discomfort, either in your genitals or during things like urination, along with the discharge?

no pain or discomfort
i was just wondering what could cause it to happen
ive read that upto ten days before your period starts old blood can start coming out but that seems like a long time for old blood to hang around

Got it. So, a brown tint does sometimes happen before or after your period. I can't say for certain what's causing it, but you can check out this article to see if things like the consistency or smell are cause for concern, or if this is likely just some mild variation in your discharge: Honorably Discharged: A Guide to Vaginal Secretions
