Am I aromantic or not?

Unread post by squid-the-squid »

I’ve only recently started questioning whether or not I fall on the aromantic spectrum. For as long as i can remember though, I only get attracted to people who have interacted with me in a positive way . It’s one of the reasons why I don’t get attracted to fictional characters or celebrities even if I find their personalities and/or looks attractive. I know for a fact that I’m a biromantic asexual though, so is it just me being ace or is there some aromanticism in there?

Hi there, Squid — welcome to the boards!

While you're the only person who could definitively answer this question, I can see why you've asked — feeling romantic attraction in very few or limited contexts can be a sign that someone is aromantic. There can be some overlap in the experiences of people with different identities, so this might come down to a question of whether aromantic experiences resonate with you, and whether identifying as aromantic feels right. One way to approach this might to explore the resources listed on the AUREA website. I would keep an eye out for the terms 'demiromantic' or 'greyromantic', because these subidentities might be closer to what you're looking for.
