Chat With Me About Your Inauguration Anxieties

Hi friends,

So this was the first election I've ever voted in, and it really didn't go the way I was expecting. As a young person in America there are still so many things I don't know about politics and how they will affect me and my loved ones that it can feel like this unbearable weight while at the same time feeling totally out of my control.

Here are my main anxieties:
As a queer person I am worried for my and others' safety in being out. I have already changed by gender marker on my drivers license and passport but I'm concerned that they're gonna change the law and make by IDs invalid. I don't know what it takes to make that happen, and I don't know if it even would, but it feels scary to even think about. If anyone here has resources they want to share or information that may be helpful please post down below!

I'm also worried about the safety of undocumented people in the U.S. and families being separated. I don't know a lot about how to help undocumented people in this time and if anyone here has recommendations of organizations or people who are gathering resources, legal help, etc, please drop in this thread!

Lastly, right now I'm suuuper concerned about abortion rights. As someone with a uterus who has sex with people with penises I feel scared about all of my options being taken away. Ive recently been trying to help educate people on the options they currently have like getting long-term brith control put in asap because as someone with an IUD, there is a real sense of safety I feel having gotten it a few years ago. Here's a short list of long-term birth control methods for those considering:
  • IUD (hormonal/non-hormonal)
  • Implant (hormonal)
  • Vasectomy (for penis-havers) (reversible btw)

I know that I'm not the only one with anxieties so if anyone else wants to share theirs down below please do. Also feel free to share further resources, accurate political info, orgs to support, etc. Thanks all <3
