sperm survival on hands/skin/toilet paper

Post by daniwani2008 »

hey anyone at scarleteen,

just wanted to have something cleared up, so 2 weeks ago exactly my boyfriend and i did something incredibly stupid, we haven’t had piv or genital to genital contacts ever, but my boyfriend and i dryhumped (4+ layers not worried about this) and when he ejaculated he caught it in his hands so he wouldn’t soil his clothes, but i gave him some tissues and toilet paper and he wiped his hands dry, or mostly and then proceeded to touch other surfaces (like my skin) but this all happened with a quick time frame, so just a few seconds, and then he went to rub me near my vaginal entrance (he *didn’t* penetrate me with his fingers nor have i ever allowed him to), but this was on the last day of my period/a day after it ended and i hadn’t been on my opill during the days of my period, i stopped taking it so indeed my natural cycle was restarting, i had lots of fertile mucus/discharge, so is there any chance of pregnancy (or if you can’t answer that, should i worry? i took a test 13 days post incident, yesterday, properly and it was negative, i’ll test again soon but lmk if it’s worth the worry) thanks :[… really paranoid there might’ve been a few suckers on his hands though he told me and i could tell they were dry, and i KNOW he touched other stuff anyways, like my chest and whatnot for a few seconds…

Hi there, daniwani2008. Welcome to the boards.

Sperm doesn't live for long outside of its ideal environment, so once it's been ejaculated, dried off his hands, and it's been a few seconds before those hands even get near your vulva...it's not able to lead to pregnancy anymore. The only way you could get pregnant from manual sex if the ejaculate is immediately put directly into your vagina right after coming out, and that's still going to lower the chances (vs it going directly from penis to vagina, which is the ideal transfer for sperm). You can read more about how this all works here: Human Reproduction: A Seafarer's Guide

That said, you mentioned you've taken a pregnancy test already and it was negative. Is this pregnancy anxiety common for you? Have you felt this anxious about it in the past?
We have a resource that I think will be helpful, let me know if you have any follow-up questions from it: You're Not Pregnant. Why Do You Think You Are?
