I feel like something is wrong with me
I feel like something is wrong with me
Hello, I am a 16 year old girl, I never orgasmed or even masturbated
I never really felt the need to finger myself/masturbate and I would like to try it but I feel like I can't if I don't want to, I don't know why this happens to me
I'm also scared of being caught since I live with my parents and I don't know how and when to do it
When I told my friend about it he told me that it was weird so please help

Hi there, Mush--welcome to Scarleteen!
You are not weird for not having experience with masturbation, or for not knowing how or when you'd do it since you live with your parents. There are so many other people who have the same experiences--just take a look around the boards, and you'll find tons of questions like yours.
I hear you say that you've never really felt the need to masturbate--that is perfectly alright. Interest in sex can lie on a spectrum, where some people feel more interest in sex and others feel less. The amount of desire you have for sex can also change over time, across different periods in your life. The thing to remember is that sex is a fully optional activity, at any age. You can try masturbation if you want to, and we can help if you have questions, but you don't have to masturbate if you are not feeling any desire for sex. Sex without desire doesn't tend to feel that interesting, anyway.
Equally, even if you are not feeling much desire for sex right now, you could still take steps to explore physical pleasure and masturbation to see what you can learn from a new experience. But this should only be something you do as long as it is fun.
How does that sound to you? Given that masturbation is optional, would you still like to talk to us about it, and about your privacy concerns at home?
If you are interested in learning about masturbation and pleasure, we do have tons of resources on the site about the subject. Here are a few:
