Scholastic Theology and biblical stigmas.
What’s good people, today at church my Pastor was talking about Leviticus (which for those who aren’t familiar is the chapter with all the rules G-d tells Moses on Mount Sinai) and we’re reading passages from it. There are like 700 something rules which include the 10 Commandments, dietary laws(Kosher), and a ton of stuff nobody does anymore. So most of it is pretty repetitive and it’s almost like a super long poem, but this is the chapter where are the religious prejudice stigmas toward the LGBTQ+ community come from. I personally and a very religious person, but not everything in that chapter is still practiced. In the chapter the dietary laws ban pork since it is unclean. Keep in mind that this was like 5000 years ago so I think some of the rules like most of the dietary laws don’t matter anymore now that health has caught up. And every Catholic/ Christian who thinks it’s a sin to have romantic relationships with the same sex really piss me off. I don’t often preach the word of the lord often because everyone these days tend to think you’re then extreme. All I know is that God made a specific plan for everyone so nobody does anything bad and bless they disobey his plan. I doubt God cares if we have same sex relationships. If he can keep loving me after someone murders a family of four. I’m pretty sure he’ll still love you if you have a crush on your homie.
If anyone disagrees please reply and explain your thoughts, I think people need to learn more about other people’s opinions these days.
Anyhoo, Happy All Saints Day

Hey there, Collin. Welcome to the boards!
While I'm not a theist myself -- and there's a lot of diversity here in our community when it comes to spiritual beliefs and belief systems, so you'll find plenty of folks here who are theistic -- this may be one of my favorite sentence I have seen here in a while: " If he can keep loving me after someone murders a family of four. I’m pretty sure he’ll still love you if you have a crush on your homie."
It looks like you wanted to post this somewhere where you could hear from other users. Is that right? If so, you posted it in an area only for staff replies. Would you like me to move it to a general area for you where anyone can reply?

Hi Collin! Just wanted to chime in to say that I absolutely agree with you--religious doctrine should not discriminate anyone's lives. I'm not a theist myself, but I used to be one, and I live in a country where the idea that queer love is "sinful" is unfortunately prevalent. Back then, I'd also wonder why any higher being would consider any of their creations a curse, or make their sexual and/or gender identity a "test" to overcome. I don't really view the world through a religious lens anymore, but authenticity and compassion are some of the biggest things I value. This is also why I decided to dedicate some of my time for Scarleteen. It's truly heartwarming to meet religious folks who indeed show love and compassion to others, particularly queer and trans people. ^_^
