Just say no to duty sex (and help others say no, too)!

Unread post by Heather »

I've noticed a growing number of folks showing up here who are either having sex by way of some level of obligation, or who believe that there are situations or relationships where people owe one another sex in some way.

This is never, ever a recipe for healthy or satisfying sexual interactions or relationships and is also often something we see in abusive relationships or see people believing who are vulnerable to winding up in abuse or likely to engage with others in an abusive way.

Even if none of this sounds like you, I'd love for many of you to still read this so that if and when someone in your life -- a friend, a potential partner, a relative -- says something to you that shows you they believe sex is a duty in any way, or you find out they are engaging in sex out of obligation (or coercing a partner into doing so), you can counter that with facts and help everyone do all we can to keep any sex any of us are taking part in not just deeply consensual, but deeply wanted. <3

And if you want to talk about any of this, let's discuss!
