Also, Marlove, is there any particular thing that's scaring you? We'd be happy to talk it through with you and help you figure out how to manage any specific thing that's bothering you, or how to talk about it with your obgyn, if those would help.

Hi marlove,

That article above will give you some sense of the stuff they'll ask. They'll want to know about your sexual history (if any) and if you have anything in particular that brings you there. As for what you can ask, that's up to you. If you have questions about birth control, or weird period things that have been happening, or things like that, now is the time to ask them. You can also ask them to explain what the exam will involve, so you know what to expect as you go through it.
And you to whom adversity has dealt the final blow/with smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go/turn to and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain/and like the Mary Ellen Carter rise again.

Any sense of why you feel scared about a healthcare provider asking questions?

Especially if you know and understand that it is always a patient's right to a) not answer anything they do not feel comfortable sharing, and b) ask a doctor to talk differently with you if the way they are communicating makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

Same goes with you and them: you get to ask whatever you like. It's just that they, too, get to answer within limits, like, for example, letting you know if something you ask is just outside their practice or scope.
