Can my girlfriend get pregnant?
Can my girlfriend get pregnant?
We were at her house for 3 days. At first day (3 days after her ovulation) we dry humped with 3 layers of clothing in between (my underwear, her underwear and my sweats). And after a while we've seen marks of liquids on both of our clothes. We weren't sure if it was my precum or her genital liquid but that scared both of us. And at 3rd day (5 days after her ovulation) I came on her upper body sith no condom on. We were pretty clear about cleaning her body before any semen arrives to her vagina but still, how can you be sure. My question is, is there any risk of impregnation in boty scenarios? Our genitals never touched directly. Only through clothing. I never came onto her vagina, just my precum touched it through clothes. Also some semen could have arrived onto the outer surface of her vagina although it is very unlikely. By the way, the way she felt she was ovulating (high libido) and then checked the calendar app which confirmed her feelings. Thats how we know she was ovulating 3-5 days ago. Any risks? And also, her next period is in 9 days. If she bleeds at her period, we're officialy safe, right?

Hey anonvro, welcome to the boards!
From your explanation, it doesn't look like pregnancy is likely. As long as the two of you cleaned up before and after, there shouldn't be any "leftover" pre-ejaculation--not to mention that pre-ejaculation cannot cause pregnancy either. You might find these articles helpful:

- Can I Get Pregnant, or Get or Pass On an STI From That?
Does that answer your questions? Let me know if there's anything we can help you with.

Re: Can my girlfriend get pregnant?
Most of the other answers on this site or other forums say that the pre-ejaculation can cause pregnancy. Can you please give me an honest review of the scenario i've given? And please take small details into account. I don't remember if i ejaculated before the pre-ejaculation or not. And we were careful about cleaning our hands before touching her genital. But how can you be sure. Thank you.

Hi anonvro!
We say that pre-ejaculate can contribute to a pregnancy only if there’s direct genital-to-genital contact with it. Indirect contact with pre-ejaculate, like through clothes as you described, cannot cause pregnancy. This is because even if there are sperm cells in pre-ejaculate, there really aren’t much of them, and they really won’t survive the journey through fabric or being exposed to the air. Does hearing that help a bit?

Thank you so much. What about the other incident in the first message? And also, my 2 questions remain. Are our proofs of ovulation happening 3 - 5 days ago sufficient? And if she bleeds on her next period (9 days after the 2nd incident, 11 days after the 1st incident), are we officially safe?

Hi!
I’m going to refer you to our pregnancy panic companion again, as it is the right resource for pregnancy anxiety like this, rather than reassurance seeking on the boards. Can you go through this now -- it will ask you questions to answer that lead you to the answer about your specific situation -- and let me know what it tells you? Pregnancy Panic Companion
There really is no “proof” of ovulation unless there’s a pregnancy, which in this case there is not. But we cannot continue to reassure you on this. Reassurance-seeking can feel helpful in the moment, but it really just does more work to prolong the anxiety and keep your brain in an anxiety-reassurance loop. Working to break that loop and address the underlying anxiety is much more effective. Know what I mean?

Re: Can my girlfriend get pregnant?
So some time passed. She had her first period after the incident 3-4 days late if i recall correctly but she had it. It was the normal amount of correct blood for her period, she says. But she had been through a lot of stress both because of this and other factors such as her exams and family. There are symptoms like nausea during the day, drinking more water, desire for some foods more, her blood being less thick and less red at fingertips and etc. but those can easily be about totally irrelevant things. I have researched a little during the time period and came across some situations where this kind of bleeding can occur during the early pregnancy so we are not sure. She also knows a story of a relative of hers who also claims that she had periods during the first 3 months. Can she be pregnant? Also, there is a obviously 4-day shift on her menstruation calendar app. So, according to the new calendar the incident might have happened at her most fertile day.

Re: Can my girlfriend get pregnant?
The only way someone can find out if they are pregnant or not is to take a pregnancy test. We are not a pregnancy test, alas.
It sure doesn't sound like she became pregnant given she had her period, and people don't typically have pregnancy symptoms so soon, but if you two are still talking about this, worrying about it, and thinking every weird thing she experiences in her body must be a pregnancy, it's clearly time to take a test and see that negative result in the hope it will let you let this go.
For the record, menstrual tracking apps CANNOT accurately predict ovulation with only information about when periods happened: no one should ever even look at that information when apps offer it, and we certainly don't consider it, becuase it isn't credible. To accurately predict ovulation, other information is needed, like cervical mucus and basal temperatures taken daily and then carefully analyzed.
