So, I sat up at the place we were supppsed to get coffee at, and she never showed up, even an hour after she said and we agreed on the time. I was pissed because I never even got a call, and I was really looking foward to it!

Being stood up really stinks, but alas, it's a thing that happens sometimes in interpersonal relationships (and, I'd say, especially first dates, where a good strategy, IME, is to always be prepared to do something else in case that happens).
Sorry that was what happened for you here.

Well, given how that happened... I'm just going to be friends, I guess.Heather wrote:Being stood up really stinks, but alas, it's a thing that happens sometimes in interpersonal relationships (and, I'd say, especially first dates, where a good strategy, IME, is to always be prepared to do something else in case that happens).

Ugh, I'm sorry KittyPink, that sucks!! Have you heard from her since? Any explanation of why she didn't make it or an apology? Because if not, I would also understand not feeling quite ready to be friends with her...

Seconding the 'have a second plan' thing, personally I wouldn't give folk more than half an hour. And yeah, if you're not willing to be friends with her at this point its' alright, sometimes you discover you're not feeling an arrangement and panic about how to say so but keeping someone idle for an hour is never the nice option. You need some kind of reliability to be friends anyway, I personally wouldn't let this slide without an apology or its' just gonna set the precedent for "nah its' coo' that you bailed on our plans without advance notice" or unresolved anger.

Turns out why she didn't call is because she over slept, well, I completely understand that. Also, she apologized.Iwanthelp wrote:Seconding the 'have a second plan' thing, personally I wouldn't give folk more than half an hour. I'm glad it turns out that this wasn't intentional!

My grandmother won't let me hang out with her now, because she thinks she won't show up again.Mo wrote:I'm glad it turns out that this wasn't intentional!

That's an unfortunate reaction. I guess if your grandmother was giving you transportation to the date she might have felt like her time was wasted, but it's a bummer that she's taking this to mean that this person wouldn't make it in the future.

I hope you're able to work out alternate arrangements to meet 3:

She would of called after, but she told me she was afraid I would yell at her.Mo wrote:That's an unfortunate reaction. As far as my grandmother goes... Yeah, it sucks.
