My period used to be red consistently but for the past few times it has been brown. Is that normal? Also, is spotting the day or few days after your period normal?

Hi cloudnine,

It's normal to have some variation in the color or heaviness of your period, and many people experience spotting a few days before or after their period happens.

Hey Cloudnine,

Spotting in the days before and after your period can be completely normal, and so can having different shades of brown, red, or pink. The color may vary for a number of reasons, such as the amount of exercise your get, your diet, and hormone fluctuations that happen as you age or take hormonal birth control or some other medications. When you see brown, it may be left over blood from the month before that didn't make it out with your flow. This is very common and is not usually a sign of any health concern.
