My journey
I'm a senior in high-school and have less then 3 months until school is over. I was so sure that I was going to college until I remembered my desire to join the army. Now i'm on the path and head set to join the army. But there is a lot of stigma and not just in the army but people who struggle with mental health don't turn out successful or they cant do things like the army or achieving great things. I'm struggling with believing in myself. I don't have much support at home and a lot of my support is via online or teachers from school. It took me three days to realize I could call and talk to someone for help about these things. Its hard without getting a biased point of view.

Hi Lostand_found,
You're right that there is still a lot of stigma surrounding mental health issues, and that feeling can certainly increase when you don't have a lot of support at home for those issues.
Keeping in mind that we are not a mental healthcare provider, is there a specific type of support you're looking for around this? That could be help finding resources, or talking about ways to talk to your family about this, or just leaving this is a space for you to vent for a bit.

And you to whom adversity has dealt the final blow/with smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go/turn to and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain/and like the Mary Ellen Carter rise again.

Thank you,
I'm mostly venting and looking for guidance and support for what I'm going through.

Re: My journey
You're welcome!
Given what you've mentioned here and in your other thread, can you give me a sense of whether you have any professional supports your life right now? For instance, are you seeing a mental healthcare provider?

Re: My journey
Okay, then a sound next step might be to connect with mental healthcare supports of some kind. Is that something you're open to? And if you are, do you know how you'd go about connecting to that resource?
