So, anyone have suggestions?

Re: Good love songs?
I'm not the biggest bob dylan fan but I always like listening to 'All I Really Want To Do' from Another Side to Bob Dylan as it sort of strips away all the not-so-great reasons people want to get with eachother and has a very upbeat message compared to the rest of that pretty cynical album.
Another one is "Everyday is new" by Tanita Tikaram, from one of her more recent albums which didn't really get much attention but I love it, it feels so sunny. I think it was recorded live with the whole band which gives it that sparkly feeling.

"All of Me" by John Legend is pretty good. I also really love "Enchanted" by Taylor Swift, "Still Into You" by Paramore, and "Mirrors" by Justin Timberlake. There are so many good love songs out there!

"Picture in a Frame" by Tom Waits, "Twin Human Highway Flares" by the Mountain Goats, "Take a Giant Step" by The Monkees, and "You're So Square (Baby I Don't Care)" by Buddy Holly are all favorites of mine

Re: Good love songs?
An unusual take on a love song: I just discovered "I'll Take Today" by Gary Allan, and I love it because I think it's the first song I've heard (it might be the first representation I've found in any media!) in which a person talks to his current partner about an old relationship, acknowledges that he did enjoy the old relationship and does look back on it fondly, but also firmly says that now he loves the current partner and wants to be with them.
Some others I like are "Follow You Follow Me" by Genesis, "Where Are You Going" by Dave Matthews Band, "How Your Love Makes Me Feel" by Diamond Rio, and "Sugar" by Tonic.

I'm a big musical theatre person so these might be out of fashion but "Ten Minutes Ago" and "the Sweetest Sound" from Cinderella are amazing. "I'm in Love with a Wonderful Guy" from South Pacific is really cute.

Hey KittyPink,
Here are three of my favorite love songs <3:
"Layla" - Eric Clapton: This is a very passionate and heart wrenching song about unrequited love, as Clapton was in love with Patty Boyd, George Harrison's wife.
"He's My Sunny Boy" - Diana Ross and The Supremes: This one is very bubbly, and for me it seems to epitomize having a gigantic crush!
"Triad" - David Crosby/The Byrds: This one is a very mellow song about polyamory. I especially like that this song is open-minded and encourages people to go outside their comfort zone.

"digital love" by daft punk. it's a simple song about dreaming about a loved one or future loved one
"drop pop candy" by Reol. it's japanese and part of it may have been vocaloid, but it's a classic in my book for songs about admiring and love from afar

as cheesy as it sounds, I'd check out some old Rick Astley songs. he's just so earnest and shit. none of that "ay girl i love you bitch" stuff

I certainly have nothing against consenting rap stars talking dirty to each-other on a track though!BiKinksterBoy wrote:as cheesy as it sounds, I'd check out some old Rick Astley songs. he's just so earnest and shit. none of that "ay girl i love you bitch" stuff

Re: Good love songs?
@Jacob if you're okay with explicit songs, I have a few raps that might do the trick.
See You Again - Tyler, the Creator (if you can look past Tyler's pre coming out comments, this song is beautiful and I can't stop listening to it, and it's barely explicit), Ms. Jackson - OutKast (again, not too explicit (although I could be wrong), Big Poppa - Notorious B.I.G. (a classic), Me and My Girlfriend - Tupac Shakur (this one's actually about his gun personified as his girlfriend, but still good nonetheless)

Sailing, by Christopher Cross
As I Lay Me Down, Sophie B. Hawkins
Kiss Me, Sixpence None The Richer
I Knew I Loved You, Savage Garden
Collide, Howie Day
Truly Madly Deeply, Savage Garden
Even Now, Barry Manilow
My tastes tend towards the sappier side of things, but I guess that's nothing to be ashamed of.

Re: Good love songs?
okay! Vocaloid time!
this one I think is really beautiful - Wrinkle performed by Gumi
This is so saccharine I might as well be diabetic, I love it - Rin Rin Signal performed by the Kagamine Twins (Rin and Len)
this is absolutely beautiful - One Hundred Years of Love performed by the one and only Hatsune Miku
always a solid choice - I heart performed by Rin
be warned this is a sad love song about when loved ones are away - Gears of Love performed by Gumi
This one is also somewhat sad love - Earth's Last Confession
I'm too lazy to translate the title of this so I'll just link it here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg65Sbq ... g65SbqmT0s
this is cute as hell - Dreaming Leaf performed by Miku
This is about a love story but still very good - Fools Among The Stars. it's a 2 part song, so if there are 2 videos labeled VY1 and VY2 that's why
This one is slightly wistful/melancholy, but still very good - Childhood Blues performed by Gumi
same caveat as before but a little more feels - Ikanaide (Don't Go) performed by Yuki
More sad love - Last Night, Good Night performed by Miku
okay, moving on...
Every other song by The All-American Rejects. Half their songs are about lost love/shitty love and the other half are about love in general. or they're like Move Along.
there's also probably a few dozen show tunes I could name.
Good-old-fashioned Lover Boy by Queen, pretty self-Explanatory
Queen - Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Queen - Now I'm Here
quite a few Panic! At The Disco songs
Journey - Faithfully
Journey - Any Way You Want It
Led Zeppelin - Over The Hills and Far Away
Led Zeppelin - Going to California
Earth, Wind and Fire - September
Gorillaz' song On Melancholy Hill is a good one, but as the name implies it does carry a tinge of sadness
Maybe check out Mystery Skulls, but your mileage may vary with some of their (his? idk might be just one dude) work
A classic: Fly Me To The Moon
more Beatles songs than I can count, like All You Need is Love, I Wanna Hold Your Hand
Take On Me of course, but keep in mind that one may be
Blue Swede - Hooked On A Feeling
Redbone - Come and Get Your Love
Estelle Ft. Kanye West (yes I know its Kanye just roll with it) - American Boy
I'd say more for this but the title is some formidable Japanese and I don't feel confident in my ability to translate again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hy0bdQpEGPI
Asia - Heat of The Moment
Def Leppard - Pour Some Sugar on Me. basically just a sex song actually
Great Days from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (yes it's an anime opening but it has a love theme if you see the lyrics)

I'm going to add 'Habit of You' by Arthur Russell, in fact many of his songs are aimed at his boyfriend and are beautiful.
Habit of You is just about him opening the door to see his boyfriend holding an orange birthday cake for him and it is lovely.
It's on the 'shacking up' playlist we made for scarleteen!
