How to get birth control/condoms/lube/etc. without parents knowing?
To start off this post, I feel the need to say that I have had no sexual experience with partners. I've done a lot of experimentation and masturbation and I'm pretty damn comfortable with my own body, and the only thing that's stopped me from doing sexual things with a partner is *cough cough* my lack of a partner.
So: in the event that I find a partner who I end up trusting enough to want to have sex with, I want to be prepared. I've done as much research and mental preparation as I can, but how can I acquire the more physical elements involved in being prepared - birth control, condoms, lube, etc. - without my parents knowing? I trust my mother about this stuff, but I don't feel like she needs to know about my sex life.
Thanks!

Hi CuriousKitten,
It's great that you're thinking ahead in terms of preparedness! With condoms and lube, you or a partner can simply buy those items at a drug store or grocery store and then stash them somewhere safe and private. With other forms of birth control, it depends a bit on what method you want and the specifics of taking and paying for that method. Are there any birth control methods you're leaning towards?
Something else to consider is that , while it can definitely feel weird to have a parent know about your birth control, if they're someone you feel comfortable with there can actually be benefits to them being aware of the situation. For instance, you don't have to devote as much time or energy to concealing it, which decreases your stress level. So,when you get closer to needing (or wanting) birth control, we'd be happy to help you figure out a way to tell you mom that minimizes the awkwardness.

And you to whom adversity has dealt the final blow/with smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go/turn to and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain/and like the Mary Ellen Carter rise again.

This is good to know - thanks! And so far, I've been leaning towards the pill. Any articles on here I can read about it?
