I’m so stressed - pregnancy scare

Unread post by Annatea »

In September, I had some physical contact, but no actual sex—just touching. He didn’t have pre-ejaculate or anything. Then in October, my period was late, so I went to the doctor. She did a urine test, which was sent to a :( lab, and it came back negative. After that, I got my period. Now in November, my period came two weeks early and lasted for 5 days, with heavy bleeding for the first 3 days. Despite all of this, I’m still really stressed and worried that I might be pregnant, even though I know logically it’s impossible.

Hey there Annatea, and welcome to the boards :)

I’m sorry to hear you’re worried about this! It sounds like you know you can’t be pregnant, but your anxiety is persisting. We’re happy to talk with you and see if we can help you identify some of the deeper anxieties here. But we do find that it’s not helpful to simply reassure someone that they aren’t pregnant when they know they can’t be pregnant. With that in mind, I’d like to send you this resource we have for pregnancy scares when you’ve had a negative pregnancy test. It says a lot of what I’d like to say here, which is that when you confirm you’re not pregnant (like with a test), it’s time for things like self-care and seeking out professional mental health support: The Pregnancy Panic Companion: When A Pregnancy Test is Negative.

Looking through that article, can you identify some steps that seem helpful for you in addressing this anxiety?
