For me when I was a freshman in high school my health teacher had us do an assessment for our sex ed unit and he attached a scarleteen link to the assignment for reference. After doing the assignment I started browsing the website more and the rest is history
Ohh, it’s been so long I don’t actually remember how I learnt about this place… I think I saw a post on Tumblr. I’m glad it happened. I don’t know what I would have done otherwise.
My teenage introduction to feminism coincided with the release of the book Yes Means Yes: Visions of Female Sexual Power and a World Without Rape (and their blog, which I read religiously.) Heather wrote a wonderful piece for that anthology and I'm pretty sure that it was either that piece or some other connection between the two that brought me over here!
My mom introduced me to Scarleteen around 6th grade! She worked in OBGYN and wanted to make sure I had access to sex education that wasn't part of my normal school curriculum or something she directly provided. Then I did my undergraduate internship here for my degree!
I think I discovered it when I was watching a youtube sex ed video by sexplanations (great channel would highly recommend!) I wish I had discovered it sooner as there is loads of great information on here and it is such a positive community!
