I think I have a coprophilliac-related interest

Unread post by AcidBath »

I made a post yesterday about this but wasn't all that specific or explanatory in terms of what reaction I got and what's happened since then. I've discovered I get aroused by hearing women defecate and their vocalizations and apparent pleasure that comes with it. However, I do NOT like seeing actual feces and it doesn't arouse me. I masturbated twice to a video I stumbled across of this and I got weirded out and confused because of it, and I'm still trying to figure out why it got that reaction from me and what you would call this kind of interest. I know a little about coprophillia, but I don't fantasize about or get aroused by seeing feces or thinking about smelling, handling, or eating them, that grosses me out. I'm not looking for fetish content, I'm not looking for people to participate in acts like that, I just want to know if this reaction falls under the umbrella of an atypical sexual interest and if this is something unusual to be aroused by. I'm confused and a little uncomfortable about it, anyone have some insight?

Hey there. Next time, do us a favor and just add a post like this to you initial post to add more to it? It's just easier to work with an ongoing conversation when it's all in one place. Thanks!

There's actually no such thing as "typical" and "atypical" sexual interests, because human sexuality is simply, much, much too diverse and fluid for that. So, I think you're looking for an answer here that we just can't give you, because it's based on an idea about sexuality that isn't sound. Eproctophilia is the traditional term for this that you're looking for, save that the "philia" part of any of these words is not actually accurate when it's just meaning to describe that someone finds our found themselves turned on by something. In sexology, a -philia is something that someone *needs* to experience arousal or to feel satisfied by the sex they are having, it doesn't just mean someone is aroused by or curious about something. There aren't terms for everything and anything people may just be turned on by, and even when there are, they don't tend to be very helpful. Just having nomenclature for something doesn't really do a whole lot.

But what I am hearing, and thought I did yesterday, is that you feel uncomfortable with this discovery, and that is something we can talk about. It's pretty common for people, especially younger people, to feel uncomfortable when they find themselves sexually aroused in general, and all the more when they find themselves aroused by anything they feel is unusual or weird or gross, even though those words can describe a lot of sex and sexuality, honestly. Even penis-in-vagina intercourse, considered by many to be the most "normal" or provincial sexual activity is pretty darn weird when you really think about it!

It's also very common for people to be excited by things they think of as taboo or forbidden in some way, especially in the kind of overarching culture we all live in. If you feel like this isn't something you are supposed to be seeing or are supposed to be aroused by, that can tend to make it all the more arousing.

Can you say more about why you're feeling uncomfortable and what you're looking for around that? Chances are if all you felt was uncomfortable, this isn't actually a problem to be solved, as we'll all do just fine in life being momentarily uncomfortable sometimes, but it sounds like you're looking for some help when it comes to that feeling.
