I love my Breasts, how about you?

Unread post by Johanna »

The original post was started by JamsessionVT on the old board here:
"In light of all the questions concerning breasts, their size, what they feel like, "Will mine EVER grow?", "They aren't the same size!", and "Is this normal?", how about we take some time to look at the good?

I think breasts are amazing things. Really, they are. They are of major importance in the first stages of life after birth, providing nourishment and comfort. Breasts are the constant showboat in art and media, both celebratory and a source of problems. They are the worry of most of the population of teenage girls (and, come to think of it, an obsession of men as well).

So think about it; breasts, bosoms, boobs, melons, hooters, headlights, your chest, whatever you want to call them, are incredible evolutionary feats. So why do people scorn their own so much? Use this thread as an outlet to talk about the good, the bad, and the just plain silly."

I actually like my breasts a lot. I used to worry about them a lot because my aureolas are quite big, and all the breasts I saw in movies, etc., were small and pink, but I feel more comfortable now because they're an average size and they don't hurt my back. They have small little stretch marks on them now, but I'm starting to feel out being comfortable with that on my body instead of wishing they were nonexistent. I think for the most part I feel okay with it, and being a feminist has helped that "okayness" spread more.

I really do love my boobs, too. And as much as I appreciate them for their amazeballs reproductive function and am, uh, okay with the weird way society treats them, I mostly love mine just because they're sexy.

I used to absolutely hate them... I haven't been below a 32GG since I was a young teenager. Despite my size I spent many years wearing bras in totally the wrong size; which only made things much worse, since the bras were really uncomfortable, and big boobs squished into small unsupportive bras look pretty dang lumpy. I sort of became an evangelist for a UK company called Bravissimo, which sells bras at much bigger sizes than most high street chains (did you know that in the UK, a lot of high street stores' *biggest* cup size is the *average* cup size of British boob-owners?), and damn, did my boobs ever look so much better in their bras. Bravissimo's marketing campaign reckon that some ridiculous percentage of women wear bras which are too big in the band and too big in the cup, which leads to shoulder pain and back pain and all sorts of problems... and it really is so much nicer wearing a properly-fitting bra.

So once I'd got decent bras and started to get more confident about my clothed boobs, that led - very gradually - to learning to like my unclothed boobs too. They sag, and flop around, and if I sleep on my back they come to rest in my armpits. But hey, I have boobs of a size that would make a porn director swoon, they don't need to be fitted with anti-gravity plates too. I still don't think they're the most ornamental thing when naked, and sexy posing tends to involve some not insignificant rearranging, but I'm now very happy to show them off. :D

I've also gotten over a dear friend and one-time sexual partner commenting "Jeeze woman, you have areolas like dinnerplates!" I do! You can eat vla off them. (Not you guys specifically, my apologies)

I absolutely love them.
I was just freaked out for a while when my areolas suddenly got wider, but I realized that it was part of puberty and now I know that it was perfectly normal.

My boobs are on the smaller side. I don't get a lot of variety in my size when I go bra shopping, and many of my friends' boobs had been growing even when mine had stopped. So there are days when I love them and days when I don't, so much. I know it's important to love your own body as it is, so I try to think about the advantages of having smaller boobs and be happy. And I'm getting there :)
