Vomited, did I do the right thing?

Hi there,

I’m on the 21 day combined pill, haven’t missed any or taken any late etc in the two years that i have been on it. However, on Sunday last week I took my pill at the usual time 8am but I vomited an hour later due to drinking the night before and was hungover. So I waited another couple of hours until I felt I was able to keep another pill down and took another one from a spare pack around 11am and I wasn’t sick again. Was my protection affected? This has happened to me before and there was no issues but I’d just like the reassurance.

Hi Angeldelight,

Sounds right to me! If you vomit in the first couple of hours after taking the combined pill then you should take another as soon as possible and then the next one at your usual time. Your protection shouldn't be affected if you don't vomit again
