Arousal and Erection

Um, this isn’t anything super urgent or serious, but I’m not super familiar with how arousal and erections work. As a penis possessing person perusing probably not pointless knowledge, what can cause erections, and what are some symptoms of arousal. I know erections can happen with sexual stimuli that don’t cause arousal, but I would like to know a bit more on all of it. Sorry about this general topic. Thanks for your time!
